NORTH CAROLINA WATERFALLS
WATERFALL ON HICKORY BRANCH (3)
Driving Directions: From I-40, take Exit 73 to Old Fort. Continue down Catawba Avenue toward Old Fort until the road ends at U.S. 70 after 0.4 mile. Turn right and drive 1.8 miles to Curtis Creek Road (S.R. 1227) on the left. Turn left onto Curtis Creek Road. After 2.7 miles, the road turns to gravel and in another mile, Curtis Creek Road becomes F.R. 482. After 5 miles on Curtis Creek Road, you will reach Curtis Creek Campground. Park in the hiker parking area on the left after crossing Curtis Creek.
Hiking Directions: Across the road from the parking area, the trail begins on the other side of the campground. Walk away from the restrooms and toward a concrete pad where the trail enters the woods and begins to ascend using a switchback to the left. At the time of my visit, the trailhead was marked and blazed in orange. Descend to the creek and cross, picking up the path heading upstream on the other side.
