COVE CREEK FALLS (3)
Driving Directions: From the intersection of U.S. 64, U.S. 276, and N.C. 280, drive 5.2 miles on U.S. 276 north to F.R. 475 on the left. Turn left, passing the Pisgah Center for Wildlife Education in 1.4 miles. In 3.1 miles, reach the parking area for Cove Creek Group Camp on the left and the beginning of F.R. 809 on the right.
Hiking Directions: Hike F.R. 809 for 192 feet and turn right to avoid crossing the creek. Cross the creek on a footbridge and turn right to remain on F.R. 809. In 0.19 mile, a spur trail to a small waterfall on Caney Bottom Creek is on the right. In 0.27 mile, reach the trailhead for the blue blazed Caney Bottom Trail on the left. Turn left and continue 0.3 mile before turning right and crossing a small creek. At 0.46 mile, reach the intersection of the Caney Bottom Trail on the right and Cove Creek Trail which continues straight. Continue straight on the yellow blazed Cove Creek Trail for 0.29 mile to a spur trail on the right that leads to the base of Cove Creek Falls. To avoid climbing the bank and backtracking, continue on the trail downstream and turn right at the upper group camp to walk back on F.R. 809 to the parking area.
